From 6 April 2014 the right to request flexible working has been extended to all employees. Previously this was only available to employes who parent a child, or care for an adult.

Additionally the current right to request procedure is to be replaced by a duty on employers to deal with requests in a reasonable manner, within a reasonable time.

It should be noted that the right is for employees to be able to request flexible working. There is no obligation on employers to grant such conditions.
