Royal Escape Race

The annual Royal Escape Race has been running since 1976 and sees yachts crewed by local sailors race from Brighton to Fécamp in France.

Organised entirely by member volunteers at the Sussex Yacht Club, this race brings together communites on both sides of the English Channel. Fitzhugh Gates has for many years had a close affinity with the Sussex Yacht Club at both board and membership level, so it is natural for us to help support the race as a sponsor.

All the proceeds from the Royal Escape Race go towards good causes, notably Sussex Sailability which is based at the Sussex Yacht Club and was set up by the Royal Yachting Association to enable disabled people to be able to sail.
