Holiday Restaurant Table

When a family holiday went wrong due to the onset of severe illness in a child, the parents decided to seek damages against the travel company that had organised their trip with a personal injury claim, including the booking of the hotel where the child fell ill.

The case was made that the unfortunate young person had contracted gastroenteritis and suffered nearly three weeks of stomach cramps, diarrhoea, vomiting, headaches, nausea and sweats, during and following their stay at the hotel.

The child was awarded £1,700 in general damages and we are pleased to report that the young person made a full recovery.

Fitzhugh Gates Solicitors Comment

When something goes wrong due to a failure in service or standards, resulting in personal injury to an individual, it is only right and proper that such matters are scrutinised. Personal injury can include physical injury, sickness or disease, psychological and or emotional injury, and although standing up to a large organisation such as a major travel company may seem daunting, with the help of an experienced personal injury lawyer, an individual can receive proper compensatory payments.
