Statistics relating to the Employment Tribunal Service show that there has been steep decline in claims since the introduction of fees for claimants.
Figures obtained from the Ministry of Justice show the number of claims accepted by the Employment Tribunal Service fell by 55% in August 2013 to 7,448, showing a very significant decline in numbers when compared to the 17,153 of claims recorded in July 2013.
It is clear that this decline has continued into 2014, prompting a Government enquiry into the Tribunal fee structure and access to justice.

The Government should learn the lessons from the abolition of Family legal aid and the suffering that has caused; it is hoped that the enquiry recommends a change in the fee structure as it seems to be true that colateral damage has been done in the cause of reducing the number of vexatious claims.
